Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a small, quiet town. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing to those unfamiliar with its meaning. Many people believe that it is an island to the west of Montreal, but it is actually a part of the city. West Island encompasses everything between the cities that are Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel was born there however her stay in the city wasn't long. Brugel was raised in Courtice near Oshawa in Ontario. When she was a child she hoped to become professional performer, however an unexpected growth spurt made it impossible. The Toronto Star article revealed she's six feet tall, with heels. When I outgrew my male partners I stopped. Bruce was among the former dancers who turned to acting. Her teacher from high school encouraged her in the right direction. Her teacher advised her to audition as Anne in the school's annual production. She tried out and eventually got the role of the main character of Anne of Green Gables. This led to her being awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts at York University. Since then, Brugel's been in over 60 productions both big and small. One of the most memorable was when she landed the role of Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel played the role of Rita in the Handmaid's Tale which was filming over 10 years ago.
